Email from Dad (Ian Ridge): 'Our dad enlisted but either the government or the Post Office declared his as an essential occupation, telegraphist, and he was not released to the forces. That was probably in relation to the 1918 enlistment. I am surprised at the 1942 enlistment as he then had two children; he was about 45, and I was due in the following August.' |
