I'm not sure how this Mr and Mrs John Meaney relate to the other local Meaneys. He apparently died in 1896, she in 1920; three sons survive as of 1920 (cf the 1923 obit of another Mrs John Meaney http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/36609485 of a couple who immigrated from County Clare c1858). If she was 20 when they married, then they married in 1857 and came to Australia in 1866 (in a ship that doesn't exist in Google, the Hegamont). If they came straight to Kapunda they must have been in contact with other Meaneys?

Aha! The ship was the Hougoumont - no wonder it was mistranscribed. Found it via http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/SAassistedindex.shtml#y1866

Also note changed spelling of surname (as in other examples)

This is a terrible place to work out the differences between the various Meany/Meaney families, but...
the d 1923 one might be referenced here http://www.thepeerage.com/p59173.htm
'Ellen Ryan was born in 1835 at County Tipperary, Ireland.1 She was the daughter of Patrick Ryan and Alicia Dwyer.1 She married John Meaney on 17 November 1860 at St. John's Church, Kapunda, South Australia, Australia.1 She died on 12 October 1923 at Light Scrub, Fords, South Australia, Australia.1
From 17 November 1860, her married name became Meaney.1
