GOLDEN WEDDING AT FORDS

Mr and Mrs P. J. Meaney celebrated their Golden Wedding at their homestead near Fords, on Sunday. There was a large number of friends present, and the old couple received many congratula tions. They arrived in South Australia in the Blenheim, in 1854, and were married at St. Johns, near Kapunda, on August 24, 1861. Mr Meaney has been farming ever since on the same farm as he occupies to-day. He was very successful in his agricultural opera

tions. He is one of the oldest pioneers of the district of Light. There is a fajnily of 14 children who are settled in various parts of the State. They were nearly all present at the festival and presented the parents with a pair of hand some chairs, suitably inscribed. Mr and Mrs Meaney have lived a retired life for about 25 years, and the family have carried on the farming in their interests. The family consists of Mr M. Meaney, ganger, Mingary ; Mrs G. A. McNeil, Goolwa ; Mrs J. J. Rice, Cockburn ; Mr P, J. Meaney, ganger, Laura ; Mrs R. Schwerdt, Hamley Bridge ; Mr F. A. Meaney, packer, Hamley Bridge; Mr D. Meaney, farmer, Barabba ; Mrs Kealy, Terowie ; Messrs Thos. and B. Meaney, hairdressers and jewellers, Eudunda; Mrs M. Byrne, Sutherlands; and Messrs J. and W. and Miss Alice Meaney, Linwood.
