Mr. Patrick Meaney, whose death occurred recently at the Adelaide Hospital, was a well known resident of the Fords district, in which he had lived for nearly sixty years. A native of Ireland he left that country over seventy years ago, landing in South Australia when he was seventeen years of age. After working for some time on various Government construction jobs he joined his two elder brothers, who had taken up land at Linwood, and afterwards took over a farm of his own. Mr. Meaney continued to work the farm himself for more than half a century, but relinquished the management to two of his sons on the death of his wife eight years ago, making his home with his son, Mr. W. Meaney, of St. Peters. Of a family of 19 there are seven sons and six daughters living. There are 62 grand children and 14 great grandchildren.
