Ridge—Rice WEDDING At the Church of the Holy Cross, Goodwood, yesterday morning. Doreen Veronica, youngest daughter of Mrs. A. T. Rice, of Goodwood, and the late Mr. J. J. Rice, and sister of Dr. P. W. Rice (Torrensville) and Dr. V. de P. Rice, was married to Mr. Thomas A., second son of Mrs. M. E. Ridge, of Peterborough, and the late Mr J. Ridge. Monsignor Hourigan (Vicar-General) officiated. The bride was given away by her brother Mr. T. F. Rice. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father W. Russell. The bride wore a frock of parchment satin moulded to the figure, the skirt merging into a fishtail train. The high-necked bodice was finished at the neck with rows of shirring. The long, tight-fitting sleeves were pointed over the hands. The veil was of handmade Irish lace. It was worn with a halo of orange blossom. The bride carried a sheaf of pink gladioli. Miss Doreen Kealy, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. She was gowned in sky blue taffeta. The skirt was composed of rows of frills, with which was worn a vermillion sash and shoes to match. The bodice had a fichu collar and puff sleeves. A sheaf of vermillion-toned gladioli was carried. The maids of honor, Margaret Rendell and Patricia Rice, neices of the bride, were frocked in long sky blue taffeta frocks, made on similar lines to the frock worn by the bridesmaid. They wore halos and carried small posies of vermillion colored gladioli. The fichu collars were furnished with posies. Mr. J. Ridge, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The acolytes, Pat and Brian Fitzgerald (nephews) were dressed in cream and wore Dominican surplices and soutanes. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, who received in a gown of black georgette and lace, with a large blacck straw hat. The bridegroom's mother wore a black ensemble and hat to match. The bride's travelling dress was an ensemble of "laughing water." |
