Mr. M. J. Meaney Mr. Michael Joseph Meaney, who died at Adelaide on September 2, was born at Linwood, near Kapunda. He was the eldest son of the late Patrick Meaney, who was well known in the Kapunda district for many years. Mr. M. J. Meaney married the oldest daughter, Mary Ann, of Mr. Michael Kearns, of Hamley Bridge, and after his retirement in 1927 he lived with his wife and family at Semaphore, and later at Largs Bay. For 37 years he served in the South Australian rail ways, and was a well-known identity in the country districts in which he was stationed during his life. He left a widow, four daughters, and two sons— Mrs. W. Wise, Cowandilla; Mr. P. Meaney, Largs Bay; Mrs. S. H. Hawkes, Mitcham; Mrs. C. Trowse, Alberton; Mr. M. Meaney, Largs Bay; and Miss Mollie Meaney, Largs Bay — five granddaughters and five grand sons. |
